Collaboration with Tina McCann
Convergence is when ocean currents meet, often causing downswells, and is also when mother and daughter get together for a quilting vacation and began this quilt collaboration converging disparate styles of quilt making together to make this piece. At the end of the vacation Mom took home the top to finish and quilt. The quilt is also a meeting of vintage linens and new fabrics, hand dyed and solid fabrics, and machine and hand stitching. The relationship of mother and daughter ebbs and flows with time coming together and separating cyclically and continuing with the next generations. The oceans cover 70 percent of the Earth’s surface and with global changes the waters are warming, growing, and converging in ways to which we are not accustomed and we must take them seriously as they are the majority of our surface and affect the Earths weather and coastal areas.
